Specific Service Guidelines
In direct connection with the needs of our customers' vehicles, we subscribe to and directly apply the Uniform Inspection and Communications Standards set forth by the Motorist Assurance Program (MAP). In brief, these guidelines are meant to provide an industry roadmap for communicating the results of vehicle inspections to their owners - our customers.
Uniform inspection guidelines make for agreement on need. Customers can be properly alerted to the degree that service, repair or parts replacement is necessary. MAP applies its 2 operating verbs, require and suggest, as follows:
Industry standards dictate that parts replacement or service is required when the part in question no longer serves the function for which it was intended, or does not meet a vehicle manufacturer's design specification, or is missing. Parts replacement or service may be suggested if a part is close to the end of its useful life, or to address a customer's need, convenience, or request.
In any case, suggestions must be based on substantial and informed experience, or the vehicle manufacturer's recommended service interval.
